ABOUT THE KAPAA AREA

Kauai’s eastern shore, also known as the Coconut Coast has so much to offer including great beaches, shopping, dining, a coastal path and all the conveniences of a bustling island town. If you like to be in the middle of what’s happening, then Kapaa is a perfect fit!

Kauai’s Coconut Coast

Nestled at the base of Nounou (the Sleeping Giant) Mountain on Kauai’s eastern shore is Kapaa, also known as the Coconut Coast.  A bustling town with a diverse array of hotels, shopping centers, small retail keepsake shops and restaurants.  Look for the “Kauai Made” logo for locally made products.  You will find Coffee Shops, Juice Bars, Health Food Stores and weekly Farmer’s Markets in Kapaa Town.

Coastal Bike Path

The scenic, coastal walking and bike path extends for over 2 miles of the Eastern shoreline passing Kealia and Donkey Beaches.  Kealia Beach has a life guard and bathroom and shower facilities.  Bike rentals are available nearby in Kapaa Town.

Kauai’s East Side Attractions

Opaekaa Falls, Sleeping Giant hiking trails, Forestry Arboretum and Kauai’s Hindu Temple are located upcountry from Kapaa town in Wailua Homesteads. Lydgate Beach & Park at the mouth of the Wailua River has two man-made reefs for protected swimming and snorkeling and a playground.  Just beyond Lydgate Park there is a municipal golf course.

Wailua River

The Wailua River is Hawaii’s largest and only navigable river where you can enjoy a peaceful paddle up the river on Kayak to Secret Falls.  Kapaa has an abundance of watersports and activities to enjoy including snorkeling, diving, surfing, kayaking, waterskiing, boating, kiteboarding and stand up paddling.
