Lucky enough to be on Kauai this New Year’s Eve? You can sip champagne, listen to Hawaiian music, or head to Poipu and watch fireworks under the stars.
If you’re in the mood for elegance, Kauai resident Toni Childs (three-time Grammy nominee and Emmy winner for the haunting “Because You’re Beautiful”) will perform a New Year’s Eve concert at the Marriott Resort in Lihue.
Cocktails are at 7:30, dinner’s at 8, the concert starts at 9 and the dancing starts… well, whenever you’re ready. Tickets are $150 per person, with proceeds benefiting KKCR (our public radio station) and GMO Free Kauai.
There’s another big party goin’ on at the Kilohana Luau Pavilion in Lihue featuring Makana and opening act Kawili. From 7:15 pm to 1 am, this YMCA benefit promises music, dancing, light pupus and a champagne/beer garden. Tickets are $30 in advance, and $35 at the door.
Or go casual: grab a blanket or a beach chair and head to the Poipu Beach Park for a free aerial fireworks display from 9:30 to 10 pm. Kick back under balmy skies… and celebrate the fact that you are starting your New Year in paradise.
